The following is the Privacy Policy established by the Japan Society for Computational Engineering and Science (JSCES) for proper protection of personal data.

Collection of personal data

JSCES may collect data voluntarily provided by members of the Society, users of various services offered by the Society, and individuals involved in reviewing and screening processes related to the projects conducted by the Society to the extent necessary. In principle, the purpose of the collection of personal data shall be specified and the collection of personal data shall be based on the will of data subject.

Use and provision of personal data

JSCES shall use the collected personal data to the extent necessary for the operation of the Society and for other purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy. Personal data shall not be disclosed to third parties without consent of the data subject unless otherwise permitted in this Privacy Policy.

In addition to the foregoing, in any of the following cases, personal data may be used, disclosed or provided to third parties.

1. Where use and/or provision of personal data is permitted without consent of the data subject under the applicable laws and regulations;
2. Where the data subject gives consent to the use and/or provision of personal data; or
3. Where handling of personal data is subcontracted to the extent necessary for the operation of the Society.

Member information (name, e-mail address) will be automatically provided to IACM (International Association for Computational Mechanics) (head office: Spain), of which JSCES is a member organization. For further details about membership of IACM, please see our Admission Guidance (in Japanese).

Management of personal data

JSCES shall endeavour to properly manage the personal data collected so that such data will not be divulged, destroyed, altered or lost.

Access to and correction of personal data

Upon request of a data subject, JSCES shall, in principle, allow him or her access to his or her personal data without delay. Further, upon request of a data subject, JSCES shall, in principle, correct his or her personal data without delay. Provided, however, that JSCES may refuse such request where it is permitted to refuse such request under the laws and regulations.

Revision of Privacy Policy

JSCES may revise the Privacy Policy without notice. The revision shall be posted on the JSCES website and shall be effective from the date of publication. The latest version of the Privacy Policy shall be always applied to personal data handled by the Society.
