The Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions of the Japan Society for Computational Engineering and Science
Preparation of Papers
The manuscripts shall be prepared in PDF (Portable Document Format) files in accordance with the Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions of the Japan Society for Computational Engineering and Science [PDF 77KB].
Followings are general instructions regarding the preparation of papers for submission.
Portable Document Format (PDF) is a document format developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated to ensure smooth transfer of documents between different platforms. PDF files can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader which is distributed free of charge for various platforms. Further, with the use of a plugin for WWW browser, content of PDF files can be viewed directly from the browser. For details on PDF, and downloading of Adobe Acrobat Reader, please visit the Adobe Systems Incorporated Website.
Apart from Acrobat Reader, with the purchase of Adobe Acrobat, documents prepared using word processor such as Microsoft Word and EGWord can be directly output as PDF files. Further, use of Acrobat Distiller will allow a PostScript format file to be converted to a PDF format.
If you are having difficulty preparing a paper in PDF format, you may send a file saved in PostScript format. Documents created in LaTeX can be converted to PDF files using Acrobat Distiller after output in PostScript format using dvips. For preparation of a paper using TeX and LaTeX, PostScript fonts should be used instead of PK fonts to ensure clearer finish of the PDF file. PostScript fonts for Computer Modern font and AMS font are made available free of charge. These may also be downloaded from this Website. (readme.txt, cm_ams.zip3MB)
The manuscripts shall be prepared in accordance with the Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions of the Japan Society for Computational Engineering and Science. Papers prepared using word processor and the like must be converted into PDF file and submitted in accordance with the instructions below.
- The file name of a paper shall be in the form of paper.pdf
- Please do not provide links to any sites or files outside the paper posted.
- If any special English fonts (fonts other than the Adobe Standard set of 13 fonts including but not limited to Times and Helvetica) are used in the paper, data of those fonts must be embedded as the file is converted to a PDF file. In particular, please ensure that the data for the fonts used in figures and formulas are embedded in the PDF file. Unless font data is embedded in the PDF file, special fonts will not be displayed correctly on machines that do not have those fonts installed.
Template for preparation of papers (LATEX file of the Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions)
The Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions has been prepared in the same format as the actual paper. Below is the LaTeX file of the Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions.
- LATEX file of the Instructions for Authoring Manuscripts for the Transactions:jscespaper.tex
- Style file used in LATEX file:jscespaper.sty
- Figures loaded as examples in LATEX file:fig.eps
For preparation of a paper using LATEX, PostScript fonts below should be used instead of PK fonts to ensure clearer finish of the PDF file.
- PostScript font of Computer Modern font and AMS font that can be used with LATEX, and config.ps file, psfonts.cm file, and psfonts.ams file that are necessary for setting dvipsk: cm_ams.zip(3MB).
(The folder is downloadable from the http link provided. Unzip the folder after downloading. For ASCIIpTeX, PostScript font shall be placed under texmf/fonts/type1/public, config.ps shall be placed in texmf/dvips/config/ and psfonts.cm and psfonts.ams shall be placed under texmf/dvips/base/.)
Submission of errata upon discovery of typographical errors in the paper after publication
After a paper is published on the Internet, if there are any typographical errors in the title, author name, affiliation, text, mathematical formula, data, reference, etc. in the paper, the correction may be made by posting an errata on the Internet. Please note the followings when preparing an errata.
- Only simple errors in words and phrases may be corrected. Changes to the content of the paper including but not limited to its theory and conclusion that may require review of the paper are not allowed.
- Submission of an errata manuscript may be accepted only within one year from the publication date of the original paper.
- Errata may be accepted only once per paper.
- No new errata for an errata that has previously been submitted may be accepted.
Only the errata manuscripts in PDF files will be accepted. For details on preparation and submission of an errata manuscript, please refer to the instructions for preparation of an errata manuscript below.
